First and foremost, Sundance has become the necessary first stop of the year to discover new films and the best that independent filmmakers have to offer. But Sundance would not be totally “complete” without the exceptional lounges full of gifts, new products, and stars relaxing between screenings and press opportunities. This year, the choices for self-indulgence were many! Whether it was the “House of Hype Livestyle” or the “GBK & Turner Gift Lounge” at the amazing Montage hotel, or one of the special catered “Chefdance” events (over-eating but never ever over-drinking--ha!), we had so much fun that we were left in a severe need for rehab. Not only did we enjoy checking out the new puma watches or some wicked handbags from Lena Erziak, but we also swooned for the Paul Frank headphones, EQ bracelet, and loved playing with the HB3 Technology hoodies with built-in earbuds. Of course, it was a plus that we could share a drink (or two!) with rock star Tommy Lee, rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent, as well as Lil Jon, and Elijah-Lord of the Ring-Wood. And thanks to Stella Artois beers, the night always remained young and younger! One special treat this year was to participate in Chefdance, which was sponsored by Belvedere Vodka and presented by Sotheby’s. Beyond the “to kill for” gourmet food that graced our stomachs, it was also an occasion to raise a glass of Champagne and cheer stars such as Susan Sarandon, Kate Bosworth, and Michael Rapaport.
Next year, don’t forget to get into the side festival of gift lounges and dinner parties, as this will make your Park City visit a unique experience and give you a sense of feeling so alive! Cheers and see you in Sundance 2012!
