There are summers where the big blockbusters fall short, fans are left disappointed and hungry for something juicy to sink their teeth into. So far, this is not one of those summers. The Avengers broke records, stole hearts, and proved that there can be a truly 'incredible' Hulk. With Joss Whedon's smash success leading the way, we still have three more months of midnight movies premieres. June is no slouch, with bloodthirsty fish, violent fairytales, and the one we've all been waiting for: Prometheus.

(Dimension Films) Piranha 3DD - June 1, 2012

Like Battleship, Piranha DD appeals to those with specific midnight-movie sensibilities. Rather than searching for alien-military destruction in the water, this creature-infested sequel is geared towards those who ache for the simple pleasures of a little humorous carnage. A loose sequel to Pirahna 3D, this one stars Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Gary Busey (Under Siege), and David Hasselhoff (Baywatch) -- guaranteed hilarity with every chomp.

(Universal Pictures) Snow White and the Huntsman - June 1, 2012

When director Rupert Sanders says a re-imagined Snow White, he means re-imagined. With stunning imagery and a story fueled by revolution, Snow White and the Huntsman is deadly serious. Kristen Stewart stars as a warrior Snow White, taught by the enigmatic huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor, The Avengers). It is Charlize Theron (Young Adult), however, who dominates as the imposing evil Queen. Flashes of bloody battlefields and dark magic brewing beneath the surface whisper of a sleeper hit in our midst.

Fans of the novel will be happy to hear that the film adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter comes out this month. With a screenplay penned by the original author, produced by Tim Burton, and directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Night Watch, Day Watch), Lincoln has quite the devious team at its helm. If you haven't read the novel, never fear - the title says it all.
